The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) sees itself as an educational institution for future business and social leaders. It has an international focus and is oriented towards practice and state-of-the-art research at a global level. The FHNW is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), placing it in the top five percent of business schools worldwide. On its campuses in Basel, Brugg-Windisch, and Olten, the FHNW has more than 3,000 Bachelor’s and Master’s students. With a broad range of programs, it is a leading provider of continuing education among Switzerland’s universities of applied sciences. The FHNW maintains more than 160 partnerships in education, continuing education, and research worldwide. It has strong regional roots in Northwestern Switzerland, where it partners with small and medium-sized enterprises and (non-profit) organizations. Degree programs

The BSc and MSc programs offered at the FHNW are science-based and practice-oriented. They prepare students for responsible management tasks in businesses and public-sector organizations. Various specializations within these programs enable students to focus on specific management areas. Student projects commissioned by companies and organizations involving real-world tasks provide students with valuable connections to the world of work and potential employers. Study-abroad semesters, summer schools, and study trips abroad provide FHNW students with an international perspective. In addition, two MSc programs and two of the five BSc programs are taught in English. The FHNW also offers a tri-national BSc program taught in three languages and involving three countries, leading ultimately to three recognized degrees.

Continuing Education

Continuing education courses are devised in close cooperation with companies and organizations and continuously developed to meet the needs of the market. They promote personal development and the preservation of competitiveness and labor market skills. The FHNW Business School offers more than 160 continuing education courses. Classes are taught by qualified FHNW lecturers and experienced practitioners working in businesses and public administrations.

Research & Development

The core concern of our research is the sustainable improvement of results for our clients and the transfer of know-how to our teaching and consulting. In cooperation with private and public organizations, we develop scientifically sound, innovative solutions to current challenges. Our competence centers can draw on a broad network of national and international partners in business and academia, supplying interdisciplinary knowledge and expertise. Our research findings also help us to update our degree programs and continuing education courses continuously.

Our research portfolios also include attractive PhD-programs, which are offered in cooperation with international partner universities.
