Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts School of Business

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts School of Business (HSLU School of Business) is central Switzerland’s center of excellence for business administration and regional economics, banking and finance, communication and marketing, and tourism and mobility. Our commitment to education and innovation is deeply rooted and extends to people, companies, and institutions in central Switzerland and the world.

We supply businesses with qualified and talented individuals through challenging, practically relevant, and scientifically sound Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs. A broad range of continuing education programs makes us the largest provider of continuing education among the business schools of the Swiss universities of applied sciences. As a university of proximity, personal exchanges are particularly important to us. Another key concern is that our research & development projects are positioned at the intersection of science, business, and the public domain. Our close ties with individuals, companies, institutions, and scientific communities help us produce practically relevant and scientifically robust results.

Degree programs

Our Bachelor’s degree programs provide the foundations for a successful career. We deliver a proven combination of practical and scientific knowledge and skills that prepares our students for the world of business and the management of businesses and institutions. Programs include a BSc in Business Administration, a BSc in Business Psychology, and an interdisciplinary BSc in Mobility, Data Science, and Economics. Students can opt for various specializations according to their field of interest.

Master’s degree programs build on the knowledge and skills acquired as an undergraduate. They enable students to work part-time (up to 50 percent) while studying, which allows them to apply what they learn immediately. Programs include an MSc in Business Administration with various specializations, an MSc in Banking and Finance, and an interdisciplinary MSc in Applied Information and Data Science.

Continuing Education

Our continuing education programs are practice-oriented, innovative, and tailored to individual needs. Every year, some 2,200 individuals participate in our CAS, DAS, and MAS programs. Another 4,500 attend courses or seminars. We are especially proud that 94 percent of our students would recommend the HSLU School of Business to others. To us, lifelong learning means being on a professional and personal journey towards new horizons at the interface of business and science. We impart current knowledge and the latest developments using a markedly practical and application-oriented approach. Participants can rely on our scientific expertise and our excellent contacts in the corporate world. To ensure that your investment in continuing education is worthwhile, we employ committed lecturers and professionals who are all specialists in their respective fields.

Services

The HSLU School of Business conducts research and provides consulting services as scientifically sound as they are practically relevant. As a higher education institution of proximity, we offer tailored consulting solutions, expert opinions, tests, assessments, concepts, and workshops. SMEs and international corporations also benefit from our practical, comprehensive solutions, as do municipalities, city authorities, and cantons. Furthermore, because complex issues often require an interdisciplinary approach, we draw on the services of our colleagues in other schools and institutes at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, as required, to supplement our broad spectrum of expertise.

Research & Development

Working closely with industry, services, public administration, non-profit organizations, and trade associations, the HSLU School of Business initiates and carries out research projects on current issues. In this way, we make an essential contribution to strengthening economic innovation and further developing professional expertise. At the same time, we ensure that the content of our degree programs and continuing education courses reflects the current state of knowledge and the needs of practitioners. Our projects receive funding from the federal government, the cantons, Innosuisse, the Swiss National Science Foundation, EU research institutions, as well as the private sector – demonstrating the high quality of our research. In supporting around 30 PhD students, we promote young talent bridging the gap between science and practice.
