The ZHAW School of Management and Law (SML) has made a meaningful contribution to solving the economic and social challenges of the present and the future.
Our guiding principle, “Building Competence. Crossing Borders.” commits us to continually develop our high-quality degree programs, continuing education products and research and be an active player in a globalized world. To foster exchange and openness with the world, the SML maintains partnerships with over 190 selected universities around the globe.
As one of the eight schools of ZHAW, the SML collaborates closely with the university’s other disciplines. Our internationally recognized Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, cooperative PhD programs, and numerous continuing education programs are science-based, interdisciplinary, and practice-oriented.
The SML is one of the largest business schools in Switzerland, with around 9,500 students in its BSc, MSc, and continuing education study programs. It is also the only business school of a university of applied sciences in Switzerland to be listed in the renowned Financial Times rankings while also meeting the high standards of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The SML has also received EQUIS certification from the European Foundation for Management Development – a label for high quality standards in teaching, research and continuing education.
Degree programs
The SML degree programmes are practice-oriented and scientifically sound. The Bachelor’s degree programs (Bachelor of Science, BSc) offered at the SML impart modern specialized knowledge geared to the needs of businesses. They have a strong practical orientation and provide a sound level of supplementary general education in specific areas. Graduates are prepared for immediate entry into their chosen fields. After earning a Bachelor’s degree, students also have access to various consecutive Master’s degree programs. These allow them to develop their skills and expertise even further.
Continuing Education
The latest findings from science and practice mean that what was new yesterday can become quickly outdated. The SML exchanges views and information with companies, trade associations, and other partners and continuously adapts its products to meet changing requirements. In this way, we help professionals prepare for the challenges of tomorrow. The SML offers numerous practice-orientated and scientific continuing education opportunities.
The programs are taught by lecturers who combine professional and academic qualifications and by experts in their fields. Participants work on real-life case studies and gain insights into the current state of research.
Services
The research we conduct and the services we provide at the SML are theoretically sound and highly practically relevant. Our consulting mandates combine practical experience, theoretical expertise, and comprehensive methodological competence. We are prepared to cross geographical and disciplinary boundaries if a project calls for it. We are happy to do research and carry out consulting projects on behalf of our clients in addition to developing and delivering training courses. We serve a range of clients, from SMEs to international corporations.
Research
Research at the SML consists of applied basic research and research projects in collaboration with external partners. We also attach great importance to promoting young talent, such as through our cooperative doctoral programs. In our research projects, we cooperate with other ZHAW schools, external partners (companies), and partner universities worldwide.
